Title: Smartphone applications used in orthodontics: A scoping review of scholarly literature

About the study: The review aimed to determine the scope and extent of the published literature on mobile apps in orthodontics as well as identify the types of studies published, and summarize the outcomes studied. One of the key goals of the study was to give direction for future research in a rapidly evolving subject area.

Conclusion: The authors, as one of their conclusions found that our app had the highest number or studies performed on it and was overall found to be accurate and reliable.

Title: Concurrent validity and reliability of cephalometric analysis using smartphone apps and computer software
Authors: Christos Livas; Konstantina Delli; Frederik K. L. Spijkervet; Arjan Vissink; Pieter U. Dijkstra
About the study: Assessed the diagnostic accuracy of two smartphone cephalometric analysis apps (CephNinja and OneCeph) compared with Viewbox software
Conclusion: The study concluded that OneCeph has a high validity compared with Viewbox, while CephNinja is the best alternative to Viewbox regarding reliability. It also concluded that smartphone apps may have a great potential in supplementing traditional cephalometric analysis.

Title: Web-based Fully Automated Cephalometric Analysis: Comparisons between App-aided, Computerized, and Manual Tracings
Authors: Pamir Meriç , Julia Naoumova
About the study: The study compared 4 different systems relating to cephalometric analysis: fully automated, computerized, app-aided and manual tracing. In the study, the accuracy of manual cephalometric analysis was compared to cephalometric analysis using AI (CephX), a computerized method (Dolphin Imaging) and an app-aided method (CephNinja).
Results and conclusion: The article concluded that the AI method (with manual corrections) is promising for clinical practice and also confirmed that both CephNinja and Dolphin are comparable to the manual methodology.

The objective of the study was to assess the reproducibility of cephalometric measurements derived from an application (CephNinja) designed for handheld (smartphone) devices and manual cephalometry
Conclusion:
Handheld (smartphone)‑assisted cephalometric analysis (with CephNinja) shows good agreement with manual tracing and can be employed for clinical decision‑making.

About the study: The aim of this study was to compare values of cephalometric analysis performed by CephNinja and NemoCeph for Downs’s analysis
Conclusion: CephNinja presented a satisfactory result with NemoCeph, and can be used interchangeably with confidence.
